Founded in 2001, we are the oldest continuously active women's dragon boat team in Philadelphia. We range in age from 24 to 73. We are spirited women from all walks of life. We are diva warriors. We are a floating support system.
The Dragon Boat Crew has a two level dragon boat program. For a competitive team we offer a training program that promotes the sport of dragon boat racing and facilitates the development of strong minds and fit bodies through an intense team oriented training program to compete at the highest levels of dragon boat racing. What is Dragon Boating? Dragon Boating is an ancient Chinese tradition and one of the most up and coming sports in the US. Tell me about a dragon boat . – I always say it is an over sized canoe. The boat is very colorful with dragon head and tail put on the boats for racing. The boats are 43 feet long, seats 20 paddlers, a drummer and a steersperson for a total of 22 people on the boat. We brought our group to Meetup.com in April 2010, but we actually began our monthly book discussions in September 2009. We have been having our meetings the first Wednesday evening of every month, 7pm at Red Hook Coffee & Tea (765 S 4th St - between Fitzwater & Catharine in Queen Village). The meetings generally go no later than 9pm. We are casual and enthusiastic; our members enjoy reading and collectively choosing and discussing books on a monthly basis.
